Yahoo’s deal to revive ‘Community’ is part of its latest effort to compete in online video

Yahoo Inc. has picked up the ambitious meta-comedy for its nascent video-streaming site, Screen, after the show was canceled in May by NBC. The series will keep its talent roster intact under creator and executive producer Dan Harmon, and will return this fall for a sixth season consisting of 13 new episodes. The deal to save the much-loved but ratings-challenged series came at the last minute. Sony Pictures Television and Yahoo finalized an agreement Monday, the last day of the cast members’ contracts on the show. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. – John Jurgensen & Douglas MacMillan, The Wall Street Journal
