World Cup drove live streaming, not video traffic averages

Data from the World Cup revealed that some operators still need to learn how to deal with the rise in demand during live events for live video streaming. The study also highlighted the need for Quality of Experience (QoE) during large sporting events, saying audiences do not want a delay of even seconds during these times. When demand for mobile video spiked during certain games, the number of videos stalling and the seconds of video stalling doubled. For example, when the increase in demand rose by two times, mobile video stalling reached around 10 percent. However, when demand spiked higher (such as during the Brazil vs Germany game with a 20 times increase in data traffic across a single sports network, ESPN), the number of videos stalling and the seconds of video stalling doubled. – Telecompaper http://ift.tt/1oOxryE
