HBO makes web push to fend off Murdoch

The US$49-a-month Internet Plus trial introduced last year with Comcast is the model for a new service, the sources said. The package is aimed at the 10 million US broadband customers, many of them younger, who don’t now buy cable TV. There are about 100 million US households that have television subscriptions. “There’s no secret we’re looking at all these distribution options,” said Quentin Schaffer, a spokesman for HBO, without commenting directly on the expansion effort. – Christopher Palmeri,Bloomberg News via Buenos Aires Herald
