Channel 13 strikes deal to put public TV on the Internet

Public television has been dipping its toes in the waters of Internet TV for some time but now its flagship station, New York’s WNET, has struck a deal to deepen its ties with the medium of the future. On Wednesday, Thirteen WNET New York said it had signed a deal with PBS Digital Studios to create 40 episodes of original online content for the Web. The new programming will be two short-form series produced specifically for PBS’ YouTube channel focusing on issues surrounding gender identity and consumer technology, respectively. – Thornton McEnery,Crain’s New York Business
