TCA: Sarandos: Netflix Staying Out of Ratings ‘Arms Race’

[Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos] waved off the [Alan Wurtzel,NBCUniversal] reveal as “really remarkably inaccurate data,” adding, “the methodology and the measurement doesn’t reflect any sense of reality of anything we keep track of.” Getting a further shot in, he asked, “Why would NBC spend their lunch slot with you guys talking about our ratings? Maybe because it’s more fun than talking about NBC ratings.” As to his previous assertion that Orange Is the New Black is more popular than rival linear shows, he said, “There’s not an apples-and-apples comparison between Netflix watching and other viewing.” – Dade Hayes, Broadcasting & Cable Magazine
