Millennials Love Premium Streaming Music, But Are They The Ones Paying?

According to [Music Business Association’s] recently released report, young millennials (those currently between the ages of 15 and 19) are much more likely to upgrade to the paid tier of a streaming platform than the general population. Why? There are many reasons, but there was one that stuck out: mobile listening. Young people don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to hear the music they love whenever and wherever they want, and most of them do much of their playing on their smartphones. Most streaming services only allow users to save music for offline playing if they pay for that feature, and the mobile experience on paid tiers is often much better for subscribers. 40% of young millennials that took part in the study cited that as the reason why they’d pay to upgrade, whereas just 29% of the general population agreed. – Hugh McIntyre, Forbes
