The best Asian sci-fi movies you should see

The Sperm
While the cinema of Japan and Hong Kong is fairly well-known in the West, other Asian countries aren’t as well-represented. Thailand has been churning out science fiction flicks since at least the 1970s, and the country’s unique culture has produced some real gems. Taweewat Wantha’s 2007 sci-fi comedy The Sperm has a premise that’s new to us — a compulsively masturbating wanna-be rock star somehow manages to impregnate thousands of Bangkok women on the same night, and they give birth to an army of marauding babies that look just like him. It’s a ribald, absurdist romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously. – K. Thor Jensen,
