YouTube Prevails in EU Copyright Suit As Regulators Reveal New Google Ad Probe

In the EU, authors have the exclusive right to authorize or prohibit the “communication to the public” of their works, with some exceptions. While the court acknowledges that YouTube is “indispensable” when it comes to the illegal sharing of copyrighted content, that’s not enough to classify it as a communicator under the law.
