Nikon announces a 360-degree action camera

The KeyMission 360 is a small square, a bit bigger than the GoPro Hero Session 4, but not as much of a cube. It also, obviously, has lenses on the front and back. It’s also shockproof to 2 meters (about 7 feet), and waterproof to 30 meters (100 feet). The camera has electronic vibration reduction, too. Beyond that, Nikon hasn’t shared any more details like pricing, availability, battery life, or the field of view of each lens. – Sean O’Kane, The Verge

photo: TechCrunch

HTC cut the price of the Re camera to just $50 from $200, making it one of the least expensive action cameras on the market. It’s a capable little camera with decent image quality. Yet it’s hard to recommend even at this low price since its ecosystem of mounts and accessories pales in comparison that of GoPro or Sony. – Matt Burns, TechCrunch

Some Guy in China Wired a GoPro Inside an ENG Broadcast Camera. And It Actually Works

The most amazing thing about the hack is that it’s been wired completely internally to take use of the viewfinder in the camera and to actually be controlled by the buttons on the body. Had this just been a jerry-rigged solution, it wouldn’t be nearly as interesting, but it turns the tiny-sensored GoPro into a fully usable camera. Why you’d want a GoPro inside something like this is another question entirely, but the quality would definitely need to improve before this is even something most people would mess around with. – Joe Marine,No Film School
