Lucid Streaming: Though far from escapism, Oscar winner “Ida” is somber and satisfying

“Ida” the film for which Pawel Pawlikowski won the Oscar, is now streaming on both Netflix Instant and Amazon Prime Movies, and here are its basics: It’s a black-and-white Polish drama about a young nun who, on the eve of taking her vows, sets out with her aunt to learn what happened to her parents, who disappeared during the Holocaust. If that sounds like movie homework … well, yep, it kind of is.
