Don’t toss that old Android: Turn it into a Chromecast receiver!

For its $35 price tag, Google’s Chromecast is already fairly inexpensive. Still, you might be able to save that money by re-purposing an Android device with the right output cable, such HDMI or MHL, and Cast Receiver, a third-party app that lets your Android KitKat device act like a Chromecast. […] Since Cast Receiver is a third-party app it may not support every typical Chromecast-capable app, but the following have been tested with success: YouTube, PlayMusic, Play Movies & TV, Google Photos, PLEX and Chrome for Android.
