When two big streamers ditched Twitch, Fortnite suffered too

According to the metrics site Twitch Tracker, Fortnite dropped from pole position, where it had been holding steady for months, and has lately been hovering somewhere around third or fourth. Right now, in the early afternoon on a Tuesday, the top three games on Twitch are World of Warcraft: Classic, League of Legends, and Just Chatting (a category that generally features people talking to their viewers directly). – Bijan Stephen, The Verge » https://ift.tt/32JrEWE

Twitch streamer suspended for Chun-Li cosplay

Twitch has temporarily suspended the account of streamer Quqco for violating its guidelines on “sexually suggestive content or activities.” The suspension arose following a weekend stream during which she was cosplaying as Street Fighter stalwart Chun-Li. As noted by Kotaku (and known by even casual Street Fighter fans), the outfit includes a thigh-high slit. But Quqco told the site that she “bought one size up to ensure that the slit wasn’t too high.” – Andy Chalk, PC Gamer » https://ift.tt/2LUvaab

“Sextortion” Via ‘Fortnite’: How Video Games Can Open Doors for Predators

Roughly 211 million Americans play video games, according to a 2018 NPD report. Of that group, 28 percent are under 18. “We [used to see] sextortion cases on Facebook because that was the medium children were using,” says Greenburg Glusker partner Priya Sopori, who previously worked at the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, which combats technology-enabled crimes against children. “What we see now is a shift more to video games as the behavioral model changes for children.” – Patrick Shanley, The Hollywood Reporter » http://thr.cm/p0OwNN
