Euro Cinema Group Criticizes Venice’s “Momentous Mistake” In Showcasing Netflix Movies

Netflix has had a healthy presence on the Lido this year with lauded drama Marriage Story and Steven Soderbergh’s The Laundromat playing in Competition and Timothée Chalamet-starrer The King playing Out Of Competition. While disquiet has been less apparent than last year, today CICAE (the International Confederation of Art Cinemas) sent out a long missive criticizing Venice, other festivals and the streamer, whose model either collapses or does away with the theatrical window. – Andreas Wiseman, Deadline Hollywood » http://dlvr.it/RCLYDK

Elvira Star Says Netflix And Shudder Rejected Her Revival Ideas: ‘So Now What?’

Netflix to give 10 films theatrical release before streaming this fall

Although Netflix will bring a number of films to theaters, its conflict with theatrical giants such as AMC and Regal shows no signs of resolution. The big theater chains still want a 90-day period of exclusivity before films hit Netflix, and the streamer won’t go that far. None of the films will hit theaters for more than a month before landing on Netflix. Nonetheless, these rollouts are more expansive than the mere one-week window required by the Academy. – Brenden Gallagher, The Daily Dot » https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/netflix-movies-theatrical-release/?fb=dd%3Drs [source: YouTube/One Media]
