China’s Tencent partners with HBO for TV show streaming

Chinese Internet firm Tencent Holdings Ltd is partnering with Time Warner Inc’s HBO network to stream its TV shows, which are known for their provocative content and may draw scrutiny from the country’s authorities. […] Tencent declined to say how much it spent on HBO’s content, nor did it give a date for release. The TV series and films are set to be broadcast in the very near future, said Tencent, as they are still subject to approval from China’s regulators and may need to be censored. China’s Tencent, Warner Music partner for music streaming

Chinese fans of Linkin Park and Jason Mraz will be able to stream licensed music from Tencent Holding Ltd after the internet firm said on Thursday it had signed a distribution deal with Warner Music Group (WMG). […] Tencent doesn’t disclose how much money it makes from its music business, including its QQ Music streaming service, but QQ Music falls under its social network group, which contributed almost one quarter of total revenues for the third quarter, growing 47 percent from a year ago.
