Game Of Thrones sets a new TV piracy record, putting Davos Seaworth to shame

According to piracy-tracking firm Excipio, the fifth episode of season five was up on file-sharing sites within minutes of its 9 P.M. ET airing in the United States. The 2.2 million individual Internet addresses tracked was the count as of 10 A.M. ET the next morning, a number that has surely grown faster than a dragon in the ensuing hours. The new piracy record comes only weeks after HBO launched HBO Now, the $15 service that allows users to watch HBO without a cable subscription package. The order, obtained today by Hollywood’s Motion Picture Association, targets five popular Popcorn Time forks: popcorntime.io, flixtor.me, popcorn-time.se, and isoplex.isohunt.to. Netflix ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ Plundered by Pirates

Since Netflix premiered the street-hero series April 10, there have been 2.1 million individual users that have downloaded episodes of the show worldwide via torrent networks, according to data from piracy-tracking firm Excipio. The only TV show that topped “Marvel’s Daredevil” in the April 10-16 time frame is HBO’s “Game of Thrones — which remains the most-pirated TV show to date — with 6.5 million illegal torrents over the same period, the Excipio data shows. – Todd Spangler, Variety
