“How Crazy Ex-Girlfriend got made was a young comedian’s dream. I was doing music videos online and they would do well, to varying degrees. [The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter] Aline Brosh McKenna saw them, and the next thing I know, I get an email saying, ‘Aline Brosh McKenna and CBS would like to meet with you to discuss potentially making a musical TV show.’ We started talking, and Aline suggested a concept called ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ — the idea of a woman’s perspective on how we come to be crazy, why love makes us crazy, and what does the word crazy even mean. – Gazelle Emami, Vulture

Thank You, Miley Cyrus, for Renewing Grace and Frankie for a Second Season

Netflix logo.svg“Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix,” co-creator Marta Kauffman said in a statement. “Because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.’ So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted [Sarandos] and Miley to thank.” – Sean Fritz-Gerald, Vulture

Hulu Will Stream All Future AMC Shows Exclusively, Starting With Fear the Walking Dead

In addition to securing Seinfeld reruns, Hulu announced that it also has dibs on AMC’s future programming, starting with The Walking Dead spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead (that title). The streaming service also struck a similar output deal for certain shows with FX that has yet to be announced. “FX and AMC are the most important contributors to the new golden age of television,” said Hulu programming chief Craig Erwich. “Our competitors have some of their libraries, but we will have all of their future.” – E. For the First Time Ever, Music Streaming Made More Money Than CDs Did Last Year

RIAALooks like Taylor Swift may have won the battle in record sales last year, but streaming won the war. The RIAA is reporting, for the first time in the music industry’s history, that streaming services pulled in more revenue than CD sales in 2014. Last year streaming earned $1.87 billion, while CD sales took in $1.85 billion. (The industry made $6.97 billion overall, which is slightly down from 2013.) And while the numbers are still relatively close, streaming services coming ahead of CD sales for the first time represents a growing shift in the way people consume music. According to the report, streaming rose by 29 percent in just the last year[.] – Dee Lockett, Vulture
